Mayhem Mania 2021: Round 3

It must be Mayhem Mania season!

Every year, we bring together fans, wrestlers and other folks. Our goal is to construct the BEST WrestleMania card that’s currently possible. Everyone under a WWE contract is eligible to use, as are those who are within the orbit of WWE’s influence. If Vince McMahon can do it, we can do it!

If you’re just tuning in, here’s how we got to this point.
Mayhem Mania 2021 – Opening Round
Mayhem Mania 2021 – Round 1
Mayhem Mania 2021 – Round 2

Not every WWE wrestler is eligible to use. Under the rules of Mayhem Mania, everyone comes in their current physical, emotional and contractual state. That means anyone out with an injury is NOT eligible to use. (We are ignoring COVID-19 diagnoses because this is supposed to be a fun diversion, not a reminder of the terrible things happening around us.)

Others are not eligible to use for a different reason. Some of them are locked in SPACE JAIL.

* “Cell numbers” correspond with the numbers on our prize wheel

SPACE JAIL is not a life sentence. A lucky spin of our prize wheel can free one of them, and that’s exactly what happened before Round 3. The prize wheel freed Ric Flair.

There’s no “double jeopardy” so anyone who escapes can not be locked up again during Mayhem Mania 2021.

5 players were invited onto the Wrestling Mayhem Show for Round 2 of Mayhem Mania 2021. Each can make ONE of the following changes to our card:

– SWAP one wrestler or team with one in another match on the card or replace them with a wrestler or team not currently on the card
– ADD a wrestler or team to an existing match
– DELETE a match in its entirety and replace it with a new match using entirely new wrestlers
– MATCH SWAP: This year, we have a designated “cinematic match” slot on our card. A player can choose to swap an existing match on the card for the match currently in that “cinematic match” slot.

With all that business out of the way, let’s take a look at the changes made during Round THREE of Mayhem Mania 2021!

Move #1 (by Sorgatron)
DELETE Walter vs. Goldberg and CREATE Elias & Drew McIntyre & Jinder Mahal vs. Damien Priest & Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch

Move #2 (by Bobbyfjtown)
DELETE Bray Wyatt & Alexa Bliss vs. Daniel Bryan & Nikki Cross and CREATE Io Shirai vs. Rey Mysterio

Move #3 (by Alex Kahrs)
ADD Roman Reigns to Keith Lee vs. Pete Dunne

Move #4 (by “The Rev” Ron Hunt)
SWAP Samoa Joe and Finn Balor

Move #5 (by Dave Podnar)
DELETE Xavier Woods & AJ Styles & Kofi Kingston vs. Tyler Breeze & Adam Cole & Cesaro and CREATE Mercedes Martinez vs. Sasha Banks

With Round 3 in the books, we now have SIX new matches on our card.

Elias & Drew McIntyre & Jinder Mahal vs. Damien Priest & Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch

(Created by Alex Kahrs)

Finn Balor vs. Kyle O’Reilly vs. Timothy Thatcher vs. Ilja Dragunov
(Created by “The Rev” Ron Hunt)

Here are the two matches that survived Round 3 without being changed.

Raquel Gonzalez vs. Beth Phoenix
(Created by Tina Keys)

The IIconics vs. Riott Squad
(Created by Mad Mike)

If a match survives THREE rounds without being altered in any way, it will GRADUATE to our SUPERCARD. The creator of the match will receive rewards, including creating a new match to fill the open slot on our “undercard”. Our goal is to GRADUATE eight matches to our SUPERCARD by the time Mayhem Mania 2021 comes to an end.

One final note: Following Round 3 Mad Mike used one of the SPACE JAIL tickets he earned in our Royal Rumble contest to send Austin Theory to SPACE JAIL.

What will happen next? The only way to find out is to keep following Mayhem Mania 2021!

Mayhem Mania 2021: Round 1

It must be Mayhem Mania season!

Every year, we bring together fans, wrestlers and other folks. Our goal is to construct the BEST WrestleMania card that’s currently possible. Everyone under a WWE contract is eligible to use, as are those who are within the orbit of WWE’s influence. If Vince McMahon can do it, we can do it!

(We are ignoring COVID-19 diagnoses because this is supposed to be a fun diversion, not a reminder of the terrible things happening around us.)

Others are not eligible to use for a different reason. Some of them are locked in SPACE JAIL, where they can not be used unless a lucky spin of our prize wheel manages to free them. Right now, here’s who’s locked up.

In our opening round, our players created 8 matches. This week, the real fun begins with what we officially refer to as Round 1. 5 players were invited onto the Wrestling Mayhem Show to each make a single change to our card.

Here are the options our players have for making a change to the card:
– SWAP one wrestler or team with one in another match on the card or replace them with a wrestler or team not currently on the card
– ADD a wrestler or team to an existing match
– DELETE a match in its entirety and replace it with a new match using entirely new wrestlers

With all that business out of the way, let’s take a look at the changes made during Round 1 of Mayhem Mania 2021!

Move #1 (by Brandon)
SWAP Daniel Bryan for Keith Lee

Move #2 (by Mad Mike)
DELETE Sasha Banks vs. Rhea Ripley (w/Stephanie McMahon) and CREATE The IIconics vs. Riott Squad

Move #3 (by Sorgatron)
SWAP Xia Lee & Boa for Drew McIntyre & Jinder Mahal

Move #4 (by Bobbyfjtown)
DELETE Randy Orton vs. Charlotte Flair and CREATE Finn Balor vs. Aleister Black vs. Karrion Kross

Move #5 (by Christian Noir)
DELETE Big E vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Bronson Reed vs. Dexter Lumis and CREATE Kyle O’Reilly vs. Samoa Joe vs. Timothy Thatcher

With Round 1 in the books, we now have FIVE new matches on our card.

Bray Wyatt & Alexa Bliss vs. Drew McIntyre & Jinder Mahal
(Created by Sorgatron)

(*Designated as “cinematic match”)

The IIconics vs. Riott Squad
(Created by Mad Mike)

Finn Balor vs. Karrion Kross vs. Aleister Black
(Created by Bobbyfjtown)

Pete Dunne vs. Keith Lee
(Created by Brandon)

Kyle O’Reilly vs. Timothy Thatcher vs. Samoa Joe
(Created by Christian Noir)

And here are the three matches that survived Round 1 without being changed.

Imperium (Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner & Alexander Wolfe) vs. Pat McAfee & Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch
(Created by Chad The Shad)

Mercedes Martinez vs. Walter
(Created by Mad Mike)

Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston & AJ Styles vs. Tyler Breeze & Adam Cole & Cesaro
(Created by The Rizz)

If a match survives THREE rounds without being altered in any way, it will GRADUATE to our SUPERCARD. The creator of the match will receive rewards, including creating a new match to fill the open slot on our “undercard”. Mayhem Mania 2021: It Begins!

Welcome to another year of everyone’s favorite fantasy/reality booking game: Mayhem Mania!

Every year, we bring together fans, wrestlers and other folks and ask them to help us construct the BEST WrestleMania card that’s currently possible. Everyone under a WWE contract is eligible to use, as are those who are within the orbit of WWE’s influence.

Every wrestler comes in their current physical, emotional and contractual state. That means anyone out with an injury is NOT eligible to use. (We are ignoring COVID-19 diagnoses because this is supposed to be a fun diversion, not a reminder of the terrible things happening around us.)

Over the coming weeks more players will be invited to make changes to our card. If a match survives three consecutive rounds without being altered in any way, it graduates to our SUPERCARD. The goal is to get 8 awesome matches onto that SUPERCARD before the real WrestleMania.

If you’re wondering if this process actually works, check out the SUPERCARDS from past years of Mayhem Mania.

Mayhem Mania 2015
Mayhem Mania 2016
Mayhem Mania 2017
Mayhem Mania 2018
Mayhem Mania 2019
Mayhem Mania 2020

That’s right. This is our SEVENTH year!

As always, we begin our opening round with a blank slate. 8 players were invited onto the Wrestling Mayhem Show to help us create 8 matches. There is one change from previous years of Mayhem Mania. This year, we’re designating one match slot as the “cinematic match” slot.

Let’s see what everyone came up with.

Mayhem Mania 2021 – Opening Round

Match #1 (Created by Professor Jakob Edwin
Sasha Banks vs. Rhea Ripley (with Stephanie McMahon)

Match #2 (Created by Dave Podnar
Bray Wyatt & Alexa Bliss vs. Xia Lee & Boa

(*Designated As “Cinematic Match”)

Match #3 (Created by Chad The Shad)
Imperium (Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner & Alexander Wolfe) vs. Pat McAfee & Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch

Match #4 (Created by Mad Mike)
Mercedes Martinez vs. Walter

Match #5 (Created by The Rizz)
Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston & AJ Styles vs. Tyler Breeze & Adam Cole & Cesaro

Match #6 (Created by Alex Kahrs)
Randy Orton vs. Charlotte Flair

Match #7 (Created by Tina Keys)
Daniel Bryan vs. Pete Dunne

Match #8 (Created by Jordan Styles)
Big E vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Bronson Reed vs. Dexter Lumis

See how easy that is? What a great start for Mayhem Mania 2021!

There are certainly a number of names that some would prefer NOT to see in a match on Mayhem Mania (or WrestleMania, for that matter). That’s why we created SPACE JAIL! It’s a place where players can trap their most unwanted wrestler. Anyone currently in a match on our card can NOT be sent to SPACE JAIL. They’re safe…for now.

Be warned! Every week a spin of our wheel could free that person and there is NO “double jeopardy”.

We gave each of the seven players who joined us live for the opening round the power to send one individual to SPACE JAIL. Here’s who they chose.

WHO SENT WHO TO SPACE JAIL
Dave Podnar: Lacey Evans
Chad The Shad: Dominik Mysterio
Mad Mike: Brock Lesnar
The Rizz: Shane McMahon
Alex Kahrs: Velveteen Dream
Tina Keys: Ric Flair
Jordan Styles: Edge

We’re off to a great start, but Mayhem Mania is rarely a simple process. Next week, we’ll see the first changes to our card.

Mayhem Mania 2020: It Begins

Welcome back to year six of Mayhem Mania!

This is the ultimate fantasy booking game. The goal is to create the best WrestleMania card possible – not necessarily to predict what WWE will do. That means we must play by the rules of our current reality. Everyone comes in their current (physical, emotional, psychological, etc.) state. Bottom line, if Vince McMahon can do it, we can do it.

The WWE’s talent pool has never been deeper. Combine that with the other talents on the fringes that they theoretically may have access to and there’s no excuse for them not putting together the greatest WrestleMania card of all time. We’re going to show what’s possible.

Our game began during the Wrestling Mayhem Show on Tuesday, January 21. Eight players were invited to each create a single match. As an added layer to this year’s game, we’re asking more people to eliminate names from being eligible to use in Mayhem Mania – sending them through the Forbidden Portal into Space Jail. But there’s a catch, unlike in previous years, this may not be a permanent. Each week a random spin of our newly acquired prize wheel will determine if one of them can escape from Space Jail and re-enter the game. No “double jeopardy”. Once someone escapes from Space Jail, they can’t be sent back.

So, let’s check out the 8 matches our crew created.

Match #1
(Created by BobbyFJtown)
Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt
week1-1

Match #2
(Created by Ronnie Starks)
#DIY vs. Time Splitters
week1-8
Match #3
(Created by Sorgatron)
Elias vs. Tony Nese
week1-2

Match #4
(Created by Honey Badger)
Rhea Ripley vs. Mercedes Martinez

week1-5

Match #5
(Created by Dave Podnar)
Velveteen Dream vs. R-Truth
week1-4

Match #6
(Created by Tina Keys)
Mia Yim & Kay Lee Ray & Tegan Nox vs. Asuka & Kairi Sane & Io Shirai
week1-7

Match #7
(Created by Mad Mike)
WALTER vs. Keith Lee
week1-3

Match #8
(Created by Mainstream Mat)
Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong vs. Shayna Baszler & Jessamyn Duke & Marina Shafir
week1-6

And here’s who got sent to Space Jail…

SPACE JAIL!
BobbyFJtown: Randy Orton
Ronnie Starks: Enzo
Sorgatron: Lacey Evans
Honey Badger: Bayley
Dave Podnar: Triple H
Tina Keys: Ronda Rousey
Mad Mike: WeeLC
Mainstream Mat: Bobby Fish

So, Mayhem Mania 2020 is underway. We have an eight-match card and we have eight people/things now serving time in Space Jail. Next Tuesday, we’ll invite five players to each make a single change to the existing card. Remember, any match that survives three consecutive rounds without being altered in any way will graduate to the Mayhem Mania SUPERCARD. The creator of that match will get some rewards and we’ll create a new match to take its place on our “undercard”.

By the time this whole thing is over, we’ll have eight graduated matches on our SUPERCARD. Trust me, it’ll work. We’ve already done this five time, and we haven’t failed yet.

Which of our eight matches do you like the best? Which ones do you think need some work? Which ones need to be dumped entirely. Post a comment or hit up the Wrestling Mayhem Show on social media to share your thoughts.

Before we go, we want to mention our Royal Rumble Challenge. Email your picks for the winners of both Rumble matches to [email protected] Each correct pick will earn you a ticket to send someone through the Forbidden Portal to Space Jail. So, if you get both picks right, you’ll get to send two people to Space Jail! What a deal!

Enjoy Mayhem Mania and we’ll see you next week!

Who’s Ready For Asuka? We Did The Math!

The impending arrival of Asuka, and her undefeated streak in WWE, looms like a shadow over Monday Night Raw’s women’s division.

How will things play out after her official debut on WWE’s main roster? We’ll begin to find out at TLC on October 22.

That leaves us with plenty of time to speculate on potential matches. Asuka laid waste to NXT’s women’s division and many in NXT and on WWE’s main roster now have the won-loss records to prove it. (more…)
