Mayhem Mania 2021: Round 4

It must be Mayhem Mania season!

Every year, we bring together fans, wrestlers and other folks. Our goal is to construct the BEST WrestleMania card that’s currently possible. Everyone under a WWE contract is eligible to use, as are those who are within the orbit of WWE’s influence. If Vince McMahon can do it, we can do it!

If you’re just tuning in, here’s how we got to this point.

Not every WWE wrestler is eligible to use. Under the rules of Mayhem Mania, everyone comes in their current physical, emotional and contractual state. That means anyone out with an injury is NOT eligible to use. (We are ignoring COVID-19 diagnoses because this is supposed to be a fun diversion, not a reminder of the terrible things happening around us.)

Others are not eligible to use for a different reason. Some of them are locked in SPACE JAIL.

SPACE JAIL is not a life sentence. A lucky spin of our prize wheel can free one of them. Fortunately, that did not happen before Round 4 and SPACE JAIL remains secure…for now.

5 players were invited onto the Wrestling Mayhem Show for Round 4 of Mayhem Mania 2021. Each can make ONE of the following changes to our card:

– SWAP one wrestler or team with one in another match on the card or replace them with a wrestler or team not currently on the card
– ADD a wrestler or team to an existing match
– DELETE a match in its entirety and replace it with a new match using entirely new wrestlers
– MATCH SWAP: This year, we have a designated “cinematic match” slot on our card. A player can choose to swap an existing match on the card for the match currently in that “cinematic match” slot.

If a match survives THREE rounds without being altered in any way, it will GRADUATE to our SUPERCARD. The creator of the match will receive rewards, including creating a new match to fill the open slot on our “undercard”. Our goal is to GRADUATE eight matches to our SUPERCARD by the time Mayhem Mania 2021 comes to an end.

One final note: Following Round 4, Chad The Shad used the two SPACE JAIL tickets he earned in our Royal Rumble contest to send BOTH IIconics – Peyton Royce and Billie Kay – to SPACE JAIL. In the process, the devious Chad exposed DEEP divides among the Mayhem Mania players in regards to how they desperate they are to see The IIconics in a Mayhem Mania.

Wrestling Mayhem Show 565: Drew McIntyre Does Not a Nakamura Make

It’s the return of the WMS prodigal son! That’s right, Eamon returns to the show. Sorg, Mad Mike, Larry, and Chad the Shad are joined by Eamon just off the heels of Wrestlemania weekend for Wrestling Mayhem Show 565. Of course, we talked what’s happening in the world of wrestling this week, including:

It apparently takes Wrestlemania to bring Eamon back to the show!
We’ve managed to pull Eamon away from his regularly scheduled Dungeons and Dragons.
Guys. We’re talking Wrestlemania, and other stuff in wrestling this week.
This could be Sorg’s favorite Wrestlemania – top to bottom, a great show (minus the non-wrestling stuff).
We’re a little split – did you feel Wrestlemania ran long? Or did it keep you interested so you didn’t notice?
Sharing some thoughts that Smackdown Live matches tonight were more like Wrestlemania matches.
Some thoughts that the John Cena match at Wrestlemania fell a little flat for what a Cena match could have been?
How many of us thought John Cena wrestled with a ring in his pocket?
The Wrestlemania win with Nikki Bella and John Cena was a contractual obligation for Cena’s house rules.
The real MVP of Wrestlemania was the security guard who tried to stop Gronk.
Gronk may have been too hype for Wrestlemania.
The Battle Royal at Wrestlemania felt like a legit battle royal match.

AJ Styles’ shampoo commercial spot at Wrestlemania was as good as the match itself.
Of course, we need to talk about NXT Takeover!
Speaking of NXT – we’re talking about the talent upgrades to RAW and Smackdown.
Our crew has some mixed thoughts on the NXT and TNA shakeups.
Larry is upset that the Shinsuke Nakamura Smackdown Live spot wasn’t Nakamura mistaking The Miz for Cena.
Post-Wrestlemania has been as amazing as Wrestlemania. We’re sharing some thought.
Speaking of The Hardys coming back to WWE, they WILL be at IWC this weekend!
We’re trying to figure out how to work a New Day “Hoooo” chant into a “Fuck That Owl” chant.
Cesaro is great on his own, but he’s also amazing as a tagteam partner.
Guys, Emma FINALLY returned – just as awesome as she was in NXT.

Mayhem Mania 2016 – Round 9

This… is… Mayhem Mania! Not quite a game. Not really a contest. More like a competitive thought experiment. The object is to create the best WrestleMania card possible – NOT necessarily to predict what WWE will do.

This is not fantasy booking (even though it kind of is). Any match created must be possible in real life. That means all wrestlers come in their current physical, emotional and contractual state. Anyone selected for a match must have a reasonable chance of being hired by WWE to appear on the real-life WrestleMania card. Simply put, we have to play by the same rules as Vince McMahon.

Round 9 of Mayhem Mania 2016 was held during the Wrestling Mayhem Show (@MayhemShow) on March 8. Five members of the WMS Universe were chosen to make a single “move” or a change to the card. They had the usual 3 options:

1. SWAP a wrestler/tag team with another already on the card.
2. ADD an unused wrestler/tag team to an existing match.
3. TRADE a wrestler/match for an entirely new match with unused wrestlers.

In addition, the SUBTRACT option is still in play. It can be used to remove one person from any match (singles matches not eligible. That would be weird). This option can be used only once during Mayhem Mania. After that, it’s gone forever.

Under the “Alex Kahrs Rule”, Eamon Paton was guranteed the final move in Round 9 and also got to hand out a dose of “punishment”. This week, it’s the Wheel Of Nexus.

Also, Eamon still has The ELIMINATOR in his possession. He can use this at any time to remove any single person from Mayhem Mania 2016. Those on the current card are protected from the ELIMINATOR, but if they are traded out for someone else, they would be vulnerable. Eamon can hold on to this move as long as he wants before using it. Eamon earned this prize by creating a match that graduated to the SUPER CARD. More on that in a bit.

That’s right. Eamon gave this week’s “punishment” to himself. He is a twisted genius when it comes to Mayhem Mania.

Any match that survives 3 rounds in Mayhem Mania without being altered GRADUATES to the SUPER CARD, and I’m happy to report a second match GRADUATED after Round 9.

Congratulations to Sorgatron. He will back next week to CREATE a new match to fill the open slot on the Mayhem Mania “undercard”. He also becomes the second person to get The ELIMINATOR, which will allow him to banish any person who’s not currently on the card from being used in Mayhem Mania 2016. OK. So, I wasn’t on hand to host this week’s round of Mayhem Mania. Had I been there, I would’ve been VERY hesitant to allow the use of Rob Gronkowski. I understand other celebrities have been used, and I haven’t spoken against them. Here’s my thinking on this issue. If a celebrity has appeared in the ring on WWE television, I feel it’s appropriate to use that person if it’s inside our general “realm of possibility” rule. That covers Rousey and Amell, but it doesn’t cover Gronkowski.

Also, I got the impression from listening to Elliott that he wants Gronkowski to be in Mojo Rawley’s corner. That’s also something I wouldn’t have allowed. Managers, stipulations, etc. are something I am holding as a special privilege for next week’s Patreon In The Bank round. That said, Elliott was a special guest on the WMS and the referee’s decision is final in professional wrestling, so the move will stand.
