Wrestling Mayhem Show 589: The Champion We Deserve

We’re back to our usual stable of Sorg, Chad the Shad, Mutilator Larry, and Bobby F J-Town as we talk this week in wrestling, including:

  • Our guest tonight, The Rev, upped the call-in-sick ante to call off tonight’s show by burning stuff down.
  • Friend of the show, Brandon Mynatt, will be a participant in the 2018 Special Olympics as part of the Team Missouri Bowling Team. (Donate at: http://give.somo.org/site/TR?px=1073149&fr_id=1190&pg=persona)
  • Enzo dropped some truths, but it’s bringing some attention to 205 Live.
  • WWE wanted us to hate Dolph Ziggler so much that they took away what we loved most to make it so.
  • Bobby is a fan of sleep-deprived Neville.
  • We’re talking the importance of cutting promos and not taking things personally.
  • Cody Rhodes reciting Independence Day won the internet last night.
  • Bullet Club and Cody Rhodes stalking RAW a la DX was phenomenal, guys!
  • We may or may not be spinning a DDP Yoga show.
  • Big Show cannot make Big Showberfest? And, it’s now Yes Yes Yes Fest? *head scratch*
  • We’re *finally* getting around to some No Mercy 2017 discussion.
  • Man. Cesaro’s teeth is a thing after No Mercy2017. #BeastMode
  • Is WWE pulling out all the stops for PPVs? Is this why we have so many injuries lately?
  • It’s looking like a Shield reunion. Will we get Miztourage and Wyatt Family 3-way?
  • How about that Aiden English spot with Rusev tonight?
  • This week’s Big Question: What is next for John Cena?
  • What did YOU learn in wrestling this week?

Wrestling Mayhem Show 588: World’s Strongest Soccer Mom

The Locked ‘n Loaded best-dressed guest ante has been accepted and upped.  This week, we’ve got IWC rookie Calvin Couture in studio, and he brought his A-game, replete with his bow tie and sequinned jacket.  He outshines, almost literally, our crew of Sorg, Chad the Shad, Mutilator Larry, and Bobby F J-Town as we talk this week in wrestling:

  • There’s a WWE pay-per-view this weekend! (And, we’re going to play some video games.)
  • So John Cena and Roman Reigns?
  • What was with Roman Reigns pulling out Rock v John Cena promos?
  • Chad is sharing some thoughts about how good WWE teams are these days.
  • When’s the last time we saw a rivalry for something other than a belt?
  • Are we setting up a Wyatt Family v Club feud?
  • Putting it here so it’s in writing: Someone just threw out Goldust as Finn Balor’s dad.
  • Are we going to see an Emma win?
  • Apparently WWE broke Jordan and Gable up too soon. Why?!?!
  • We need some Surf Dudes With Attitudes in WWE.
  • Starcade is happening?
  • Is there a chance we’ll see Cody Rhodes and Dustin Rhodes team up for Starcade?
  • Speaking of Starcade, WrestleCade is also in North Carolina the same weekend?
  • NXT should takeover the old WCW and ECW pay-per-view titles.
  • Crack beers like Stone Cold in Point State Park is an actual event here in Pittsburgh!
  • Sorg is stuck on TNA like a fly on a bug zapper. He just can’t turn away.
  • This week’s Big Question: Who would make a good 2017 addition to the Heenan family?
  • What did YOU learn in wrestling this week?

The Mayhemmys 2016 – How You Voted

The 2016 edition of The Mayhemmys were awarded this week on the Wrestling Mayhem Show. We have some very worthy winners, some surprising results and a decent dose of controversy.

This had to be most ambitious format for year-end professional wrestling awards, and I think it was a great success. It began with the gathering of an expert panel of industry insiders: announcer/producer Joe Dombrowski, professional wrestler Chris LeRusso and International Wrestling Cartel owner Justin Plummer. Their nominees in the 8 categories were then put up for a public vote, with write-in candidates also being accept. The results were tallied, and here are your winners.

WMSmale

The big story was the large, and diverse, field of write-in candidates. We received many different names, but none garnered enough support from the masses to jump past our expert panel’s nominees. Among those, Seth Rollins was the clear winner.

WMSfemaleOne of the biggest blowouts in this year’s voting, Sasha Banks was the overwhelming choice among the voters.

WMStag

You had to know there was going to be some unrest after our expert panel declined to nominate The New Day in this category. The public made their opinion known with a strong write-in campaign. In the end, it wasn’t enough to beat the Young Bucks.

WMSshow

This was one of the closest votes in this year’s Mayhemmys. Both TakeOver: Brooklyn and Wrestle Kingdom 9 were great shows which represented monumental, historic steps forward for both NXT and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

WMSbrand

Another controversial result, NXT was actually trailing in this category going into the final days of the voting. A late surge of support gave NXT the winning edge.

WMSnon

The biggest revolt against our expert panel’s nominees is in this category. Despite being nominated, Stephanie McMahon garnered little support. The public staged a passionate write-in campaign for Dario Cueto, but it fell well short of Paul Heyman, whose position as the standard for speaking in pro wrestling remains secure.

WMSnext

Wow. The biggest blowout in this year’s Mayhemmys is right here. Finn Bálor absolutely torched the rest of the field.

A big thank you to everyone who voted for The Mayhemmys. I enjoyed the new format. Hopefully, we can do it even bigger and better next year!

The Mayhemmys 2016 Voting is open!

This… is… The Mayhemmys!

The Wrestling Mayhem Show is taking a look back at 2015, and honoring the very best in professional wrestling.

You will decide this year’s winners in six categories. But first, let’s meet the nominees selected by our expert panel of industry insiders – announcer/producer Joe Dombrowski, professional wrestler Chris LeRusso and International Wrestling Cartel owner Justin Plummer.

Now, it’s time for you to make your voice heard. Cast your vote for the Mayhemmy for Match Of The Year, and watch the live broadcast of the Wrestling Mayhem Show on February 2, 2016 to see the winners announced in all categories.

WWE RAW Wrap Up 1/4/16: Like Beating Up a 70 Year Old
