Mayhem Mania 2022: Week 3

This. Is. Mayhem Mania!

It’s not just the ultimate fantasy booking challenge. It’s also a competitive thought experiment!

The object of Mayhem Mania is to craft the best WrestleMania card possible within the boundaries of our current reality. That means anyone WWE can book in a match is available to our players.

But this year, there’s a twist! Mayhem Mania 2022 is a two-night event! Night 1 will be the night for our traditional Mayhem Mania card featuring WWE-related matches. But on Night 2, we open the “forbidden door” and make it possible for our players to create matches with anyone outside of WWE.

The journey so far:
Week 1
Week 2

Every week, we invite players to make a change to one of the matches on our cards. They can:
– KILL a match entirely and CREATE a new one with other individuals
– SWAP out an individual or team in a match for another individual or team
– SWAP out an individual or team in a match with an individual or team in another match already on the card
– ADD an individual or team to an existing match

Not everyone is currently eligible to be used in Mayhem Mania. Some are being held in a place we lovingly refer to as SPACE JAIL. Here’s the current inmate count:

  • Asuka
  • Avery Good
  • Cassie Lee
  • Commander Sterling
  • Jessie McKay
  • Penta El Zero Miedo
  • Rey Fenix
  • Sonny Kiss
  • Ultra Mantis Black
  • Will Ospreay
  • Ziggy Haim

Five players were on hand for last Tuesday’s Wrestling Mayhem Show. Let’s see what changes they made!

Move #1 (by Brandon)
KILL Scott D’Amore vs. The Great Khali vs. Ric Flair vs. The Great Muta vs. “Stone Cold” Shark Boy vs. Naked Mideon vs. Swoggle and CREATE Jon Moxley vs. Matt Cardona vs. Darby Allin

Move #2 (by Mad Mike)

Wrestling Mayhem Show 648: A Formal Protest of Sports Entertainment

This week’s episode brought to you by Indy Wrestling USSlice on BroadwayOccupy Pro Wrestling, and IndyWrestling Network!

We’re back from our holiday hiatus with Mad Mike, Larry, Mainstream Matt, and Sorg!  And, there’s so much happening this week.  Between celebrating our podcast birthday to prepping for this year’s Mayhem Mania we’ve got plenty of hilarity, including:

  • We’re back after our holiday break – and we’re officially a year older as we celebrate our birthday with Sorg and the crew.
  • We are enjoying Mad Mike’s Becky Lynch shirt for the show tonight.
  • Mayhem Mania is coming up – and the playing field just changed. Things could get REALLY interesting this year.
  • Sorg is sporting his sweet Shawn Phoenix shirt for the show tonight!
  • There was a formal protest of sports entertainment that happened this evening.
  • Live production is tough – Sorg is speaking in his professional experience, of course.
  • It was great to see Friend-of-the-Show Britt Baker on the All Elite announcement.
  • Chris Jericho was the big reveal of the All Elite announcement.
  • We’re speculating on who else we may see pop up in All Elite given the talent that appeared at the conference and some of the relationships we’re aware of.
  • Mainstream Matt made it in time for some birthday cake!
  • Mainstream Matt totally rolled in with his Sam Adonis shirt. Best. Birthday. Party. Ever.
  • Who else watched Wrestle Kingdom 13? We’re sharing some of our thoughts.
  • John Cena is slowly turning into John Laurinaitis.
  • Mainstream Matt is crushing dreams.
  • The biggest thing from Wrestle Kingdom 13? Okada’s short shorts.
  • Ibushi and Ospreay are magic.
  • There are a ton of exclusive contracts in various companies – how will that affect some of the former talent team-ups we’ve seen?
  • This week’s Big Question:
Part 1: Who was your favorite wrestler when you were 14?
Part 2: Make a match you’d want to see with your 14-year-old wrestler and someone from today’s roster.
  • We’re headed back in time to 2006 – remembering what wrestling was like when the Mayhem Show was born.
  • Mad Mike unearthed a fan mail from Juggalo Jamie – just for our birthday celebration.
  • This is the part of the show where Sorg gets weepy and retrospective about all that he’s seen as a result of the podcast.
  • Mayhem Mania is coming. Mainstream Matt is sharing some breaking news about how this year is changing.

  • Matt can’t take Bray Wyatt anymore.

  • Dear WWE: Give us a Bray Wyatt 180 as a southern preacher like Jake the Snake with his white snake days.
  • Mad Mike is upset that Kurt Angle talked through the sierra, hotel, India, echo, Lima, delta part of the Shield’s entrance theme.
  • WTH WWE? 5 on 3? Really?
  • Mad Mike wants Asuka v EVERY WOMAN.

Mayhem Mania 2017: Round 8

This. is. Mayhem Mania!

Not quite a game. Not really a contest. More like a competitive thought experiment. The object is to create the best WrestleMania card possible – NOT necessarily to predict what WWE will do.

This is not fantasy booking (even though it kind of is). Any match created must be possible in real life. That means all wrestlers come in their current physical, emotional and contractual state. Anyone selected for a match must have a reasonable chance of being hired by WWE to appear on the real-life WrestleMania card. Simply put, you’re Vince McMahon with infinite cash and no self-control. (more…)

Wrestling Mayhem Show 562: Lucha and Chill

We’ve got a delayed episode this week – thanks to Smackdown LIVE.  To make up for the lack of Podcast Day shenanigans, we’ve got a super special guest this week when we talk with Lucha Underground Co-Executive Producer, Chris DeJoseph!  We’ve got Sorg, Mutilator Larry, Mad Mike, and Mainstream Matt on air for Wrestling Mayhem Show 561.  Of course, we talked what’s happening in the world of wrestling this week, including:

  • We’ve got Chris De Joseph on air – and he’ll be joining us for Mayhem Mania!
  • Lucha Underground is streaming on Netflix and we’ve got Chris DeJoseph on the show so we can chat about it.
  • Mad Mike is sharing lady tips. It includes watching Sexy Star.
  • Netflix is treating Lucha Underground pretty well. They even have their own trailer!
  • Chris DeJoseph is giving new Netflix viewers the elevator pitch for what makes Lucha Underground so great.
  • Lucha Underground is a great episodic show – not just a wrestling show.
  • Lucha Underground treats their fans like they’re not idiots. Mad Mike gives his seal of approval.
  • We’re talking “what ifs” of Pentagon Junior playing golf. YES!
  • Please, please, please give us an Lucha Underground Christmas special like Frosty The Snowman and Die Hard.
  • We have to give a shout out to our chat room. We have some of the best fans interacting with the show!
  • The mayhemmers are sharing their thoughts about Lucha Underground with Chris DeJoseph.
  • We’re comparing Lucha Underground to The Walking Dead.
  • Looking to watch Lucha Underground on Netflix? We have it on good authority to start with Season 1 – Aztec Warfare.
  • We’ve got Chris DeJoseph booking a Mayhem Mania match. What will he change? *dun dun DUN*
  • The mayhemmers attended Smackdown LIVE and 205 Live in Pittsburgh last night. We’re talking about the amazing.
  • Dear Renee Young when in Pittsburgh Primanti’s > Jimmy John’s. Be cool. Be like Road Dogg.
  • Mutilator Larry is our in-house 205 Live correspondent. He caught his first LIVE show last night.
  • Pittsburgh <3 Austin Aries live in action at 205 Live last night.
  • In case you missed it Friend of the Show Facade made an appearance on Smackdown LIVE.
  • Of course Pittsburgh fans were looking for Kurt Angle at Smackdown LIVE last night.
  • WWE ring crew = Nascar pit crew. Speedy
  • Hey Pittsburgh – Good for you. We are back in WWE good graces. We’re getting some good shows again!
  • It’s time for the Big Question: If you were starting a themed wrestling show like Lucha Underground what would you do?
  • It’s Mayhem Mania time with Mainstream Matt. What moves will happen this week?
  • Yes. Britt Baker DID just get booked for a Mayhem Mania match.
  • What did YOU learn from wrestling this week?
