Mayhem Mania 2022: Week 3

This. Is. Mayhem Mania!

It’s not just the ultimate fantasy booking challenge. It’s also a competitive thought experiment!

The object of Mayhem Mania is to craft the best WrestleMania card possible within the boundaries of our current reality. That means anyone WWE can book in a match is available to our players.

But this year, there’s a twist! Mayhem Mania 2022 is a two-night event! Night 1 will be the night for our traditional Mayhem Mania card featuring WWE-related matches. But on Night 2, we open the “forbidden door” and make it possible for our players to create matches with anyone outside of WWE.

The journey so far:
Week 1
Week 2

Every week, we invite players to make a change to one of the matches on our cards. They can:
– KILL a match entirely and CREATE a new one with other individuals
– SWAP out an individual or team in a match for another individual or team
– SWAP out an individual or team in a match with an individual or team in another match already on the card
– ADD an individual or team to an existing match

Not everyone is currently eligible to be used in Mayhem Mania. Some are being held in a place we lovingly refer to as SPACE JAIL. Here’s the current inmate count:

  • Asuka
  • Avery Good
  • Cassie Lee
  • Commander Sterling
  • Jessie McKay
  • Penta El Zero Miedo
  • Rey Fenix
  • Sonny Kiss
  • Ultra Mantis Black
  • Will Ospreay
  • Ziggy Haim

Five players were on hand for last Tuesday’s Wrestling Mayhem Show. Let’s see what changes they made!

Move #1 (by Brandon)
KILL Scott D’Amore vs. The Great Khali vs. Ric Flair vs. The Great Muta vs. “Stone Cold” Shark Boy vs. Naked Mideon vs. Swoggle and CREATE Jon Moxley vs. Matt Cardona vs. Darby Allin

Mayhem Mania 2022: IT BEGINS!

Mayhem Mania is back!

It’s not just the ultimate fantasy booking challenge. It’s also a competitive thought experiment!

The object of Mayhem Mania has always been to craft the best WrestleMania card possible within the boundaries of our current reality.

Mayhem Mania 2021: Round 9

It must be Mayhem Mania season!

Every year, we bring together fans, wrestlers and other folks. Our goal is to construct the BEST WrestleMania card that’s currently possible. Everyone under a WWE contract is eligible to use, as are those who are within the orbit of WWE’s influence. If Vince McMahon can do it, we can do it!

If you’re just tuning in, here’s how we got to this point.
Mayhem Mania 2021 – Opening Round
Mayhem Mania 2021 – Round 1
Mayhem Mania 2021 – Round 2
Mayhem Mania 2021 – Round 3
Mayhem Mania 2021 – Round 4
Mayhem Mania 2021 – Round 5
Mayhem Mania 2021 – Round 6
Mayhem Mania 2021 – Round 7
Mayhem Mania 2021 – Round 8

There are two “tiers” to Mayhem Mania. The 8-match “undercard”, where our players create and make changes to matches, and the SUPERCARD. To reach the SUPERCARD, a match must survive three rounds on the “undercard” without being altered in any way. So far, only one match has made it.

MAYHEM MANIA 2021 SUPERCARD

Raquel Gonzalez vs. Beth Phoenix
(Created by Tina Keys)

That’s a pretty darn good match, but we still have a lot of work to do.

Not everyone is eligible to use in Mayhem Mania. They must be under a WWE contract or otherwise within WWE’s orbit of influence. Also, everyone comes in their current physical/contractual/etc. state (We are ignoring COVID-19 diagnoses because this is supposed to be a fun diversion, not a reminder of the terrible things happening around us.). Simply put, if Vince McMahon can’t do it, you can’t do it!

Other wrestlers are not eligible to use because one of our players has sent them to SPACE JAIL.

* “Cell numbers” correspond with the numbers on our prize wheel.

Every week we spin our prize wheel to give one of the SPACE JAIL inmates a chance to escape. Thankfully, SPACE JAIL remained secure this week.

5 players were invited onto the Wrestling Mayhem Show for the latest round of Mayhem Mania 2021. Each can make ONE of the following changes to our card:

– SWAP one wrestler or team with one in another match on the card or replace them with a wrestler or team not currently on the card
– ADD a wrestler or team to an existing match
– DELETE a match in its entirety and replace it with a new match using entirely new wrestlers
– SUBTRACT an individual from an exisiting match.
– MATCH SWAP: This year, we have a designated “cinematic match” slot on our card. A player can choose to swap an existing match on the card for the match currently in that “cinematic match” slot.

With all that business out of the way, here’s how things went down during Round 9 of Mayhem Mania.

Move #1 (by Brandon)
DELETE Drew McIntyre vs. Adam Cole and CREATE Kevin Owens vs. Matt Martel

Move #2 (by Tina Keys)
DELETE Alexa Bliss & Bray Wyatt vs. Taya & Johnny Mundo vs. Rhea Ripley & Aleister Black and CREATE Triple H vs. Karrion Kross

Move #3 (by Mad Mike)
SWAP Cameron Grimes for Reckoning
*This move was VETOED by Chad The Shad

Move #3A (by Mad Mike)
DELETE Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Kushida vs. Elias vs. Roman Reigns and CREATE Trish Stratus vs. Rhea Ripley

Move #4 (by Chris Taylor)
DELETE Kevin Owens vs. Matt Martel and CREATE Hurt Business vs. New Day vs. Street Profits vs. The Usos

Move #5 (by Alex Kahrs)
DELETE Sasha Banks vs. Meiko Satomura and CREATE Candice LeRae & Johnny Gargano vs. AJ Lee & CM Punk

Round 9 is in the books, and we have FOUR newly created matches on our “undercard”

Triple H vs. Karrion Kross
(Created by Tina Keys)
(*Designated as “cinematic match”)

Candice LeRae & Johnny Gargano vs. AJ Lee & CM Punk
(Created by Alex Kahrs)

Hurt Business vs. New Day vs. Street Profits vs. The Usos
(Created by Chris Taylor)

Trish Stratus vs. Rhea Ripley
(Created by Mad Mike)

Here are the four matches that survived the round without being altered in any way.

Legado Del Fantasma vs. Breezango & RJ City
(Created by Bobbyfjtown)

Randy Orton vs. Papa Shango
(Created by Sorgatron)

Keith Lee vs. Pete Dunne vs. Cesaro vs. WALTER
(Created by Chad The Shad)

Cameron Grimes vs. Xavier Woods
(Created by Bobbyfjtown)

Brandon’s match did not survive the round. However, because next week is the Patreon In The Bank round, the “Alex Kahrs Rule” is not in effect. Sorry, Brandon.

Patreon In The Bank is the grand finale of Mayhem Mania 2021. ONLY Patreon supporters of the Wrestling Mayhem Show will be invited to play during that round, and somehow they must find a way to get seven more matches onto our SUPER CARD.

If you want to play, head to patreon.com/wrestlingmayhemshow. Your support will help the show and get you in on the fun.

Thanks for enjoying Mayhem Mania!

Mayhem Mania 2020: Round 6

This. Is. Mayhem Mania!

This is the ultimate fantasy booking game/competitive thought experiment. The goal is to create the best WrestleMania card possible – not necessarily to predict what WWE will do. That means we must play by the rules of our current reality. Everyone comes in their current (physical, emotional, psychological, etc.) state. Bottom line, if Vince McMahon can do it, we can do it. • Podcasters and interviewers alike have been in the crosshairs awaiting the turnout of the Colt Cabana and CM Punk trial.
  • Podcasts, in general, are entertainment – when someone frames it as fact-checked journalism, it can cause harm.

  • Covering New Japan is what prepared Ross for the Colt Cabana and CM Punk trial coverage.
  • Ross covers New Japan, which brings us to Larry CANCELLING his WWE Network app!

  • NXT Takeover is ALSO this weekend. We’re sharing some thoughts and predictions.
  • OH: Lars Sullivan is great! I want to see him win the title at a house show!
