Mayhem Mania 2017: Round 4

This. is. Mayhem Mania!

Not quite a game. Not really a contest. More like a competitive thought experiment. The object is to create the best WrestleMania card possible – NOT necessarily to predict what WWE will do.

This is not fantasy booking (even though it kind of is). Any match created must be possible in real life. That means all wrestlers come in their current physical, emotional and contractual state. Anyone selected for a match must have a reasonable chance of being hired by WWE to appear on the real-life WrestleMania card. Simply put, you’re Vince McMahon with infinite cash and no self-control. (more…)

Wrestling Mayhem Show 556: Very Violent Care Bear

We’ve got RWA ring announcer, Burt LeGrande, on for Wrestling Mayhem Show 556.  He is joined by Rob, Larry, Matt, Sorg, and Mad Mike, as we talk what’s happening in the world of wrestling this week!

  •  We’re sharing some thoughts on the Royal Rumble – including a Mayhem Voicemail from Mad Mike!
  • We’re making bets with foreign currency. Because we can.
  • Mad Mike and Burt LeGrande are sharing conspiracy theories about Royal Rumble numbering.
  • Larry’s beef with the Royal Rumble was Ellsworth not eliminating Braun Strowman!
  • Sorg couldn’t tell between Royal Rumble pre-show and actual show because pre-show matches were that good.
  • Matt is calling for WWE to use marathon bibs for Royal Rumble entrants in the future.
  • We’re sharing our thoughts on Bayley vs Charlotte at Royal Rumble.
  • The many characters of John Cena is a thing we’re discussing on tonight’s show!
  • We’re sharing our thoughts on NXT Takeover San Antonio.
  • It was a strong sign game atthe Royal Rumble.
  • Mike figured out how to move like Nakamura. (Hint: it involves copious amounts of alcohol!)
  • Thanks to Brandon for sharing the Universal Champion belt redesign news.
  • New Day needs to win Money In The Bank – we need to see it with a great faction!
  • Fandango and Tyler Breeze as Reno 911 members is the best! #FashionPolice
  • Shout out to Friend Of The Show Delilah Doom on her appearance on Smackdown LIVE.
  • This week’s Big Question: What one wrestler you would have and what weird MTV-style gimmick they would they have for a show?
  • From Matt – He would go with RJ City as a pregnant 16-year-old.
  • It’s Mayhem Mania time with Matt!
  • What did YOU learn in wrestling this week?

Mayhem Mania 2016 – Round 4

This… is… Mayhem Mania! Not quite a game. Not really a contest. More like a competitive thought experiment. The object is to create the best WrestleMania card possible – NOT necessarily to predict what WWE will do.

This is not fantasy booking (even though it kind of is). Any match created must be possible in real life. That means all wrestlers come in their current physical and emotional conditions. Anyone selected for a match must have a reasonable chance of being hired by WWE to appear on the real-life WrestleMania card. Simply put, we have to play by the same rules as Vince McMahon.

If you’re just joining us, here are the recaps of previous rounds.
Round 1Round 2 – Round 3

Round 4 of Mayhem Mania 2016 was held during the Wrestling Mayhem Show (@MayhemShow) on February 2. Five members of the WMS Universe were chosen to make a single “move” or a change to the card. They had 3 options:

1. SWAP a wrestler/tag team with another already on the card.
2. ADD an unused wrestler/tag team to an existing match.
3. TRADE a wrestler/match for an entirely new match with unused wrestlers.

Mayhem Mania 2016 – Round 4

Move 1 (@Eamon2Please)
TRADE Neville for Finn Bálor

Move 2 (@MadMike4883)
TRADE Daniel Bryan for Rusev

Move 3 (@JenCarlins)
SWAP Luke Harper and Triple H

Move 4 (@BobbyFJtown)
TRADE Rusev for Shinsuke Nakamura

Move 5 (@AlexanderKahrs)
ADD Hornswoggle to Dean Ambrose vs. Triple H

With the latest moves now on the books, let’s look at the Mayhem Mania card after Round 4. First, here are the 4 matches that survived the round without being altered in any way. Remember, any match that survives 3 rounds without being altered GRADUATES to the SUPER CARD. That will open a slot for a new match to be created. No more than 8 matches are allowed on the card at any one time. The goal is to graduate 8 matches before the real WrestleMania.

Mad Mike’s move was undone before the end of the round. That makes him the latest to be granted another opportunity under the “Alex Kahrs Rule”, which states that if the change a participant makes to the card doesn’t survive to see the end of the round, he or she gets a guaranteed invitation to make the final move in the next round, ensuring their next move will survive for at least a week.

Round 5 is next Tuesday night on the Wrestling Mayhem Show. Mad Mike will be joined by at least 4 other participants. We’ll also see the return of the Jar Of Midcarders. See who is forced to use a wrestlers they don’t want and the other changes that go down during the live broadcast at live.sorgatronmedia.com starting around 9 p.m. I also encourage you to check out how Mayhem Mania played out last year.

2. ADD an unused wrestler/tag team to an existing match.
3. TRADE a match for an entirely new match with unused wrestlers.

It’s all but certain that someone will add a Tuxedo Match stipulation if this match survives to see the Patreon In The Bank Round, but that’s still weeks away and a lot can change before then.

After seeing Alex Kahrs’ change to the card be undone before the end of the round, I decided to add a new rule to Mayhem Mania going forward. If the change a participant makes to the card doesn’t survive to see the end of the round, he or she gets a guaranteed invitation to make another move in the next round. That’s not all. That person will make the final move of the following round. That will ensure that their next move will not be undone, and will survive for at least a week.

The new rule means Alex Kahrs will return for Round 4 next Tuesday night on the Wrestling Mayhem Show. He will be joined by 4 other participants. See which changes go down during the live broadcast at live.sorgatronmedia.com starting around 9 p.m.

Round 1 of Mayhem Mania 2016 was held during the Wrestling Mayhem Show (@MayhemShow) on January 12.
