Wrestling Mayhem Show 1008: Dozen Dollar Ideas

Sometimes professional wrestling is bigger than championships and rivalries.

This week’s Wrestling Mayhem Show centers around one of the most memorable nights in recent Pittsburgh independent wrestling history as Jack Pollock’s “I Want a New Hip!” benefit show brought together multiple generations of wrestlers, referees, announcers and fans.

While Sorg reports in from Michigan, Missy shares what it was like producing the event and witnessing surprise returns from Jackson Argos, Chris LeRusso, Jock Samson, Sean Patrick, Adam Montgomery and Wardlow.

The crew also discusses the ongoing explosion of Danhausen’s popularity thanks to the New York Knicks, WWE’s King and Queen of the Ring tournaments, AEW’s growing streaming platform and why independent wrestling reunion events may deserve to become their own tradition.

The episode closes with one of the more heartfelt editions of “What We Learned,” reminding everyone that wrestling is ultimately about community.
