Mayhem Mania 2019: Round 5

This. is. Mayhem Mania!

Not quite a game. Not really a contest. More like a competitive thought experiment. The object is to create the best WrestleMania card possible – NOT necessarily to predict what WWE will do.

This is not fantasy booking. It’s more like reality booking. Any match created must have at least a chance of happening in this year’s WrestleMania. That means all wrestlers come in their current physical, emotional and contractual state. Anyone selected for a match must have a reasonable chance of being hired by WWE to appear on the real-life WrestleMania card.

Simply put, you’re Vince McMahon with infinite cash and no self-control.

For those of you who are just joining us, here’s where you can catch up on Mayhem Mania 2019: Opening Round – Round 1 – Round 2 – Round 3 – Round 4

Round 5 of Mayhem Mania 2019 was held during the Wrestling Mayhem Show on Tuesday, February 26. 5 people were invited to each make a single change to our existing 8 matches on our “undercard”. Any match that survives 3 rounds without being altered in any way GRADUATES to our SUPERCARD. So far, one match has earned this distinction. (more…)

Six Times When Mayhem Mania Got Real

Can you believe we’re about to enjoy the fifth year of Mayhem Mania? Our little competitive thought experiment started out as just an idea. Over the years, it’s grown into a tradition on the Wrestling Mayhem Show. There have been a lot of matches created over the years – some more plausible than others. Among them are a select few that later happened in real life. Here are six of the most notable. To be clear, we’re only looking at matches that graduated to a Mayhem Mania SUPERCARD. (more…)

Wrestling Mayhem Show 623: Midweek Infinity War

This week’s episode brought to you by Slice on Broadway, Occupy Pro Wrestling, and Indy Wrestling US!
Todd DeFazio of Idiot Radio returns to the show this week.  He is joined by Mad Mike, Mainstream Matt, Larry, and Sorg, as they’re on the heels of Money in the Bank.  This week’s topics include:

  • Reading Rainbow meets Wrestling with Nino Wrestles the World.
  • Sorg may be cashing in MITB on Idiot Radio’s belt.
  • NXT Takeover was this past weekend – a/k/a I’m sorry Sunday night show.
  • Matt likes NXT because it has a happy ending.
  • It was nice to see Daniel Eads make a cameo appearance (and get his butt kicked a little) on NXT Takeover.
  • NXT is like the Bachelor / Bachelorette party to the WWE marriage.
  • Big Cass and WWE are going their separate ways?
  • James Ellsworth returned – the highlight of MITB!
  • So….Rhonda Rousey, guys.
  • WWE is the equivalent of wrestling Walmart.
  • How do you know if you’re in an abusive relationship with wrestling? Asking for a friend.
  • When it Reigns it bores! (Thanks for that one Idiot Radio!)
  • Sorg is thinking that this year’s MITB (men’s match) was solid. It pretty much had everyone expected to be in it, and it wasn’t obvious who was going to win it.
  • Sorg is pitching Rhonda Rousey as the Andre the Giant of the current women’s division.
  • In a time long, long away – in a galaxy far, far away, the UK Tournament is happening in some capacity.
  • Also – We’re getting a NXT UK! Woooo!
  • The New Day took on The Elite for a Street Fighter battle at E3. It was as amazing as we could have ever hoped!
  • If anything happens to Xavier Woods in WWE, he’s got a solid background to be a videogamer.
  • Sorg just did some math. There is 14 hours of new wrestling content – in the US – each week.
  • To clarify, we’re talking Bubba the Bulldog, not Bubba the Love Sponge as an inspiration for Todd.
  • This week’s Big Question: Along the lines of F***/Marry/Kill – If you could hire someone to WWE, fire someone from WWE, and return a WWE alum, who would your picks be?
  • Rusev Day happened to fall on Rey Mysterio Day!
  • We saw the obituary for El Jefe, and we’re talking some Lucha Underground observations.
  • In Lucha Underground we trust!
  • What did YOU learn in wrestling this week?
  • Billed from the back of the Hot Topic, it’s Aleister Black.
  • When you realize of the Enzo / Cass/ Carmella trio that Carmella is the one who’s left behind – with Gold. *Mind Blown*

Mayhem Mania 2017: Patreon In The Bank!!!

This. is. Mayhem Mania!

Not quite a game. Not really a contest. More like a competitive thought experiment. The object is to create the best WrestleMania card possible – NOT necessarily to predict what WWE will do.

This is not fantasy booking (even though it kind of is). Any match created must be possible in real life. That means all wrestlers come in their current physical, emotional and contractual state. Many weeks ago, we started our journey by creating 8 matches for our card. Then, we started making changes…and more changes…and even more changes. It wasn’t always pretty. Here’s where you can catch up on what happened during Round 1Round 2Round 3Round 4Round 5Round 6Round 7 and Round 8. Any match that survived 3 rounds of Mayhem Mania without being altered in any way, GRADUATED to the SUPERCARD, creating room for new and even more fantastic match ideas. This process led to three graduated matches.

All this hard work and hurt feelings led to the epic Patreon In The Bank round of Mayhem Mania, in which the Patreon supporters of the Wrestling Mayhem Show were invited to make multiple changes, fast-track matches to the SUPERCARD and much more. (more…)

Things are really heating up as we cross the halfway point in Mayhem Mania 2017.

First, let’s take a look back at how we got here. We started by creating 8 matches for our card. Then, we started making changes. Here’s where you can catch up on those made in Round 1Round 2Round 3 and Round 4. This past Tuesday night on Wrestling Mayhem Show 559 we saw another series of moves, including one of the most controversial we’ve seen this year. Wrestling Mayhem Show 559: Strowman Reigns

We’ve got a couch (both in studio and on the internets) full of our WMS stable, including Mad Mike, Bobby F J-Town, Sorg, Mutilator Larry, Rizz, Mainstream Matt, and Hotwheelz for Wrestling Mayhem Show 559.  Of course, we talked what’s happening in the world of wrestling this week, including:

  • Wrestling took a hit this past week with the passing of a few historical greats.
  • Getting into RAW this week, we’re digging the big brawler match with Braun Strowman and The Big Show.
  • John Cena eliminated! We’re liking it.
  • Getting back to The Big Show, we’re still amazed at his weight loss. Kudos!
  • Brock Lesnar staring into the camera made the perfect meme opportunity. (Share your memes with us!)
  • We learned CM Punk is on The Rock’s speed dial this week.
  • For those of us without TV, how are we watching wrestling?
  • Rizz is sharing some Chikaratopia love.
  • If you create a Jaxon Argos wrestling character, Rizz will play it on Rizz Plays Games!
  • We’re swapping things up this week! It’s time for the Big Question: What should The New Day do at Wrestlemania?
  • Supplemental Big Question: If The New Day is recast, who do you want to host Wrestlemania?
  • While Mainstream Matt works up the Mayhem Mania big board Mad Mike is talking comic books.
  • It’s time for Mayhem Mania!
  • What did YOU learn in wrestling this week?
