Mayhem Mania 2017: Round 5

This. is. Mayhem Mania!

Not quite a game. Not really a contest. More like a competitive thought experiment. The object is to create the best WrestleMania card possible – NOT necessarily to predict what WWE will do.

This is not fantasy booking (even though it kind of is). Any match created must be possible in real life. That means all wrestlers come in their current physical, emotional and contractual state. Anyone selected for a match must have a reasonable chance of being hired by WWE to appear on the real-life WrestleMania card. Simply put, you’re Vince McMahon with infinite cash and no self-control.

Things are really heating up as we cross the halfway point in Mayhem Mania 2017.

First, let’s take a look back at how we got here. We started by creating 8 matches for our card. Then, we started making changes. Here’s where you can catch up on those made in Round 1Round 2Round 3 and Round 4. This past Tuesday night on Wrestling Mayhem Show 559 we saw another series of moves, including one of the most controversial we’ve seen this year.

Mayhem Mania 2017: Round 5

Move 1 (@JaxonArgos)
SWAP Bo Dallas for Raven

Move 2 (@MutilatorLarry)
SWAP Undertaker for Diamond Dallas Page

Move 3 (@TheeRizz)
KILL Eric Young & Nikki Cross vs. Tye Dillinger & Emmalina AND CREATE Undertaker vs. Samoa Joe

Move 4 (@HotWheelzRWA)
SWAP Undertaker for Braun Strowman

Move 5 (@BobbyFJTown)
SWAP Tyler Breeze for Shinsuke Nakamura

According to records we looked up on Cagematch.net, Raven’s last match was in September of last year. Under our guidelines of “operating within the current reality”, it seems plausible that he could be lured into a WrestleMania match for the right price. Diamond Dallas Page is actually the less active of the two. Aside from his guest appearances in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32 and in the 2015 Royal Rumble match, he hasn’t had a match since 2011.

If a match survives 3 rounds of Mayhem Mania without being altered in any way, it GRADUATES to our permanent SUPER CARD, creating room for more new and fantastic match ideas. Following Round 5, we graduated our second match to the SUPER CARD.

Congratulations, Bobby! You’ll be back for the next round of Mayhem Mania to create a new match, eliminate any single wrestler from being used in this year’s Mayhem Mania and hand out a dose of “punishment” to another player. Your match joins our first graduated match on the SUPER CARD.

Now, let’s take a look at 7 remaining matches which will be back in Round 6. First, here are the three matches that were not altered during Round 5.

A couple quick final pieces of business. The Rizz’ move did not survive to the end of the round. Therefore, under the “Alex Kahrs Rule”, he will be invited back to try again in Round 6. Also in Round 6, the SUBTRACT move will be back. This can only be used one time among our entire field of players to remove a single wrestler or a single tag team from any match. Hopefully, it will be used wisely.

Also, I want to remind everyone that there’s still time to enter the MAYHEM MANIA FASTLANE CHALLENGE! Predict the total time, bell-to-bell, of the Kevin Owens vs. Goldberg match at WWE FastLane. The closest without going over will get to hand out some “punishment” on the following Tuesday’s round of Mayhem Mania. Leave your guess in the comments section below.

Thanks for enjoying Mayhem Mania. Now, here’s a new episode of the hottest, new show on the internet, “Talking Mayhem Mania”!
